MELVA T. COVINGTON, Senior VP, Research and Patient Outcomes, Curio Digital Therapeutics
Dr. Covington has served in leadership roles over the past 17 years. Her focus has been on conducting HEOR research, assessing the impact of disruptive technologies on patient engagement, expanding access to care for vulnerable populations and promoting diversity, inclusion and equity within business systems. She is currently employed as Senior Vice President of Research and Patient Outcomes for Curio Digital Therapeutics, aninnovative start-up focused on women’s mental health. She has also served of Vice President of RWD at Ciox, a data exchange company and Principal of AGAPE Strategic Solutions, LLC. A consultancy to strategically support health education and disease prevention initiatives within community-based organizations. She has a strong background in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), public health practice, business development, observational research and market intelligence. These skills enable her combine diverse insights with deep analytic expertise to achieve solutions across therapeutic areas, healthcare channels and clinical development stages.
Melva has global leadership experience in multiple business functions, including strategic planning, business development, financial management, medical affairs, health policy and stakeholder engagement. She has also served as strategic lead in Clinical Operations, RWE/HEOR Strategy, Evidence Generation, Market Access and Scientific Communications.
Melva’s contributions include developing and executing real-world observational analysis, patient registries, customer engagement models and patient recruitment strategies. She is very engaged in supporting and mentoring others in their personal development and professional growth.
Prior to joining Curio and Ciox RWD, Melva led both Global and US-based teams in Health Outcomes and Pharmacoeconomic across a number of businesses, including Roche Labs, Eli Lilly, Sanofi, Pacira and Eversana Consulting. She is passionate about assessing integrated data and perceptions contextually and then applying that knowledge for targeted solutions to improve health equity and outcomes across diverse patient populations.
She has an A.B. in Politics/Economics from The Catholic University of America, Masters of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MBA from Cornell University.
